Another impactful morning at WATT.
We began with Wendy Anderson , who shared some of her life highlights, and the rest of the morning centered on insurance, employee benefits, and smart healthcare decisions. It was a conversation packed with practical value.
From medical, dental, and vision to legal plans, pet insurance, discount plans, and virtual care, the discussion highlighted just how many ways employers can create meaningful, affordable benefits for their teams. We also talked about plan structure, premiums, deductibles, and the importance of helping employees truly understand how to use the benefits they have.
There were so many valuable reminders: don’t automatically go to the ER, ask questions before scheduling imaging, understand your Explanation of Benefits, and know the difference between preventive care and diagnostic care. Costs can vary dramatically depending on where you go, and education makes all the difference.
One message really stood out: a strong broker is not just selling insurance. They are also a claims advocate, helping people navigate confusion, understand costs, and make better decisions.
Laura Piel kicked off Biz Buzz with a thoughtful conversation inspired by How to Start by Jodi Kantor, focused on work, purpose, strengths, financial reality, and self-discovery for recent college graduates. Such a meaningful reminder that career satisfaction is not just about what is available, but about finding the right fit between what you do well, what you enjoy, and what your life needs.
I also shared an overview of our WATT Book Club and what we have been reading. From The Personal Librarian to The Correspondent, one theme stood out: strong women are at the heart of these remarkable books.
Lorraine Tallman wrapped up the morning with an overview of upcoming Amanda Hope events, from golf in Prescott to the gala in October.
Insightful conversations, practical takeaways, and strong women moving each other forward — that is WATT at its best.
