What an amazing WATT meeting today—one filled with purpose, insight, and heart.
We began with Annmarie Haenfler, who transported us across continents—from Germany to Australia, Norway, Italy, Denmark, South Africa, Nigeria, and finally the U.S. Her journey from lawyer to entrepreneur was inspiring. Her guiding wisdom? First understand the culture, then work within it. A timeless truth in both business and life.
Juliet Peters followed with her powerful return to journalism through a new podcast, Her Table, Her Rules, that amplifies the voices of amazing women you’ve never heard of—but absolutely should. Her storytelling reminded us how often brilliance exists just beyond the headlines.
Laura Piel then shared five deeply thoughtful reasons to return to the office—not for policy’s sake, but for people:
- A sense of belonging—to be seen and valued
- True friendships that lower turnover and increase happiness
- Rituals that anchor our days
- Consistency that builds trust
- Growth through friction—learning and solving together, especially in crisis
At today’s WATT meeting, I stepped away from my usual business updates to share something deeply personal. I spoke about organ donation—and more specifically, the extraordinary generosity of my own family. My uncle and sister each gave the gift of life by donating a kidney to my dad. Additionally, a stranger—someone we’ll never be able to thank—donated a pancreas. Because of these selfless acts, my dad lived 20 more full, meaningful years.
This is why I often share a message that’s close to my heart:
“Don’t take your organs to heaven—heaven knows we need them here.”
Today was a heartfelt reminder to reach out to those you love. Life is fragile. The time between our beginning and our end—our “dash”—is short and precious.
Marcia Ritter closed the meeting with a beautiful reminder: We are stronger together. In our willingness to be real, vulnerable, and supportive, we create space for everyone to thrive.
Thank you, my WATT sisters—from other misters and mothers. These moments matter. These relationships are gold.
