Inflation Projections

Inflation

By the looks of it people expect inflation to settle down in a couple of years.

U.S. consumers’ inflation expectations over the next year hit a new high last month, rising to 6.6% in March, Axios’ Pete Gannon writes.

By the numbers: The median expectation for inflation three years from now decreased to 3.7% from 3.8% in February, according to Federal Reserve Bank of New York data released today.

Meanwhile, actualinflation data for March is due out tomorrow, and it looks to be a doozy, Axios’ Neil Irwin writes. The Consumer Price Index for March will reflect the surge in energy prices tied to the war in Ukraine, which is likely to push the headline number to yet another multidecade high.
