Business Signals

Still buzzing from our ProVisors discussion with Shannon Smith.

Shannon kicked things off with a fascinating history of the Federal Reserve, then brought it home with perspective on the 12th District — the San Francisco Fed — which represents:

  • 37% of the U.S. geographic area
  • 21% of the U.S. population
  • 23% of U.S. economic output

That is a serious footprint.

The Q&A was energetic, thoughtful, and eye-opening. And when it comes to M&A, business transitions, and owner decision-making, one word continues to dominate:

Uncertainty.

Same word as last year. Still very real this year.

The Federal Open Market Committee discussion was especially fascinating, along with the positives Shannon highlighted for Arizona — including data centers, hospitality/tourism, and biotech. All are important industries, each for very different reasons, and each will continue to shape our regional economy.

For those who attended, what was one of your biggest takeaways?

Thank you, Shannon, and thank you to everyone who made the conversation so engaging.
