Mr. Burke has been an executive in the gaming and resort industry for 30 years. In Atlantic City, he was the Director of Security for two Trump Casinos, Trump Castle and the Trump Taj Mahal. He was a key member of the opening team for the Taj Mahal, designing and directing the implementation of all key and access systems, hiring and training of the security staff, preparing procedure submissions for gaming regulators and negotiating staffing requirements with the New Jersey State Police.

After the opening of the Taj Mahal, the largest casino in New Jersey at that time, Mr. Burke was requested by Mr. Trump to assume the management of Trump Air, an all helicopter airline that provided regularly scheduled service between New York and Atlantic City. The fleet included 32 and 44 passenger helicopters and Mr. Trump’s personal aircraft.

As the airline’s General Manager, Mr. Burke was able to substantially improve the company’s financial performance in less than a year by applying strategic cost-cutting measures and the development of new revenue sources including non-casino related business.

Mr. Burke was also the Vice President of Security, Surveillance and Risk Management for Primm Valley Resorts in Las Vegas, which included three separate hotel and casino properties and were part of the MGM family of companies.

A summary of a his accomplishments over a 12 year period included:

  • Directing and/or personally conducting numerous complex operational, financial and IT related investigations.
  • Successfully managing large high profile special events and crisis situations.
  • Developing new and innovative training programs for security personnel including customer service and conflict resolution techniques that were adopted by MGM and applied across the brand.
  • Delivering training programs for the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) at seminars throughout the country and in Asia.

In 2006 Mr. Burke was selected by MGM management to participate on the transition team during the acquisition of Mandalay Bay Resorts. In this capacity, Mr. Burke worked with the Security Directors of 8 properties to bring policies and procedures to a level of consistency with MGM standards. He also directed the re-keying of thousands of slot machines and table games to ensure their integrity.

Mr. Burke was also on the opening team of the Las Vegas Sands in Pennsylvania where he trained a new staff, who had never worked in the industry, to achieve the highest customer feedback scores of all departments within the company

From 2011 to 2014, Mr. Burke took over as Director of Security for a casino in Downtown Detroit. In this capacity, he trained the staff to be more effective when engaging difficult and sometimes dangerous persons.

He also led a team of attorneys and managers, to negotiate a new labor contract with a Security Officers union that focused on stabilizing benefit expense and limiting salary increases.

Mr. Burke has designed and facilitated emergency response tabletop and functional exercises for casinos and resorts in Nevada, Pennsylvania and Michigan, covering a range of scenarios in order to test the company’s emergency plan and to provide Security personnel and other stakeholders with a framework for effective response.

Since relocating to Arizona in 2014, Mr. Burke has been involved in several projects including as a volunteer on the Disaster Action Team for the American Red Cross and working with a committee to incorporate the 100,000+ community of San Tan Valley Arizona.

Since relocating to Arizona in 2015, Mike was recruited to take over the leadership of a county political organization where he has been able to achieve a substantial increase in fundraising along with a year over year 50% increase in membership.

Mr. Burke is also a veteran of two years as a Special Agent with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and seven years with the FBI.

Mike earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (2003) and Master of Science in Crisis and Emergency Management (2008), Both from the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

Mike and his wife Carol have been married for 37 years. They have two grown daughters and two grandchildren.
